Winter Championship Gala

Laddsworth pupils Nicholas Kruger (Grade 7) and Patrick Lamb (Grade 6) took part in the Beavers Winter Championships Gala from 30 August to 1 September 2019 at Kings Park swimming pool in Durban.
Patrick achieved 5 personal best times and won Gold for the Boys 11- 12 Years 50 m Backstroke.
Nicholas won Silver in Boys 12 – 13 Years 200m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley, 100m Breaststroke, 400m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke and a Bronze in 100m Freestyle.

 

KwaZulu-Natal Cross Country Selection

Jonathan Werth, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School has been selected for the KwaZulu-Natal Cross Country team. He will compete in the South African Cross Country Championships, which will be held in Pretoria on 7 September 2019.
Laddsworth is very proud of Jonathan and wish him all the best for the SA Games.

‘Fury’ Raffle 2019

Laddsworth Primary School participated in the Fury Raffle from May to July 2019. Thank everyone who supported the raffle.

Man and Machine 2019

Connor Potgieter, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, took part in the ‘Man and Machine’ 2019, held in Boston from 9 to 10 August 2019. Connor was the youngest rider to take part in this grueling 150km race. He was placed 18th overall in the Intermediate section, which included 149 riders.

KwaZulu-Natal Gymnastics Selection

Abbie Julius, a Grade 4 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, participated in the KwaZulu-Natal Artistic Gymnastics Trials in Durban on Saturday 17 August 2019. Abbie was selected to represent KwaZulu-Natal at the South African Gymnastics Games, for Under 9 Level 4, which will be held in Cape Town from 24 to 25 September 2019.

TSA Umgungundlovu Tournament

Laddsworth pupils competed in the TSA (Tennis South Africa) KZN Umgungundlovu Tennis Tournament, held at Kershaw Park from 9 to 11 August 2019. There was some very stiff opposition and our pupils did very well.

• Tessa Moreno, Grade 4 – 3rd (Under 10) Girls Singles in the TSA Umgungundlovu Lollipop Tennis Tournament. Tessa and her partner were runners-up in Girls Doubles.

 

Laddsworth Musicians shine at Eisteddfod

Laddsworth pupils took part in the SASMT (South African Society of Music Teachers) Eisteddfod which was held between 29 July and 9 August 2019 in Pietermaritzburg.

Laddsworth cycling star

Omar Wilson, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School won the Sub Junior Boys under 13 KZN MTB Schools Challenge on Sunday, 28 July 2019, which was held at Kearsney College. The KZN MTB Schools Challenge is a series of 4 races; this was the first of the four races. The next one takes place on the 11th August at Maritzburg College.

Laddsworth Senior Primary Inter-House Athletics

Laddsworth Primary School held the Senior Primary Inter-House Athletics Sports Day on Thursday, 01 August (Field events) and Friday, 02 August (Track Events). Seven records were broken over the two days. The records are as follows:
Under 9 Girls High Jump: Abusiswa Mnguni (Nyala) Height 1,01m.
Under 9 Boys High Jump: Sam Wessels (Oribi) Height 1,11m (Equaled Record)
Under 10 Boys Shot Put: Matt Bisset (Kudu) Distance 7.26m
Under 9 Girls 150m: Abusiswa Mnguni (Nyala) 25:60
Under 9 Boys 150m: Joel Edkins (Kudu) 25:19
Under 9 Boys 100m: Joel Edkins (Kudu) 15:50
Under 11 Boys 100m: Benjamin Andrews (Kudu) 14:09
Nyala (Green) was the overall winner with 395 points, Duiker (Blue) second with 323 points, Kudu third with 249 points and Oribi fourth with 237 points.

 

Laddsworth raises money for the SPCA

Laddsworth Grade 2S, with their teacher Ms Tara Sparnon, Grade 3H with their teacher Mrs Rookayah Hassim, and representatives from the SPCA, Mrs Shirley Bryant and Mrs Pam Hofman.
 
Laddsworth Primary School supported the SPCA Schools Collection ‘Donations-in-a-Bottle’ for the ‘1000 Paws Walk’ Campaign. An amount of R6899.97 was collected for the SPCA. There was a class competition to see which class collected the most money. Grade 2 Sparnon and Grade 3 Hassim collected the most money and were rewarded with a pizza party for their efforts on Thursday 25 July 2019. The pizzas were kindly sponsored by Debonairs Pizza in Howick and delivered by Mrs Bryant and Mrs Hofman from the SPCA.
