SALGA KZN DSR Games 2019

Laddsworth Grade 6 pupils, Amahle Mhlongo and Jared Wakelin, have been selected to swim at the SALGA KZN DSR Games 2019. The SALGA KZN DSR Games will take place from 12 to 15 December 2019 in eThekwini District at the Kings Park Pool Complex.
We wish them all the best for the SALGA games.

 

Judo Champs

Laddsworth siblings Finn Starling (Grade 4) and Noa Starling (Grade 1) competed in the KZN Judo Competition in Westville on Saturday 9 November 2019. Noa came first in her age group and Finn came second in his age group and both received medals.

 

Laddsworth pupils excel at American Ballet Performance Awards

Laddsworth Ballet Dancers took part in the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards, which took place on Saturday 2 November 2019 in Pietermaritzburg.
The 14 girls ranging from Grade One to Grade Seven, from Julia Powell Ballet, all received a medal and certificate.

Level 1: Claire Dottridge (Grade 1) – Silver with distinction
Level 2: Erin Ford (Grade 2) – Silver with distinction
Kayla Bisset (Grade 2) – Silver with distinction
Hannah van der Merwe (Grade 2) – Silver with distinction
Abigail Moodley (Grade 2) – Silver with distinction
Level 3: Emilia Stuart-Hill (Grade 3) – Silver with distinction
Faye Firth (Grade 3) – Silver
Lily Freeman-Smith (Grade 3) – Silver
Christina Heafield (Grade 3) – Silver
Level 4: Molly Whitley (Grade 5) – Silver
Level 6: Keziah Smith (Grade 6) – Silver with Double distinction
Ella Shuttleworth (Grade 7) – Silver with Double distinction
Camryn Heafield (Grade 7) – Gold
Level 8: Crystal Viljoen (Grade 6) – Gold

Crystal Viljoen and Camryn Heafield, who were awarded Gold, have both been offered partial scholarships to attend the American Academy of Ballet Summer School in New York in July 2020.

Quattro ROAG Series Runner up

Omar Wilson, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, received an award for coming 2nd overall in the Quattro ROAG Series 2019. He received it at the awards dinner, which was held at The Hilton Bush Lodge, on 26 October 2019. Omar competed in the Sub Junior, Under 14 Boys category. The Quattro ROAG series is an event consisting of 10 marathon type races, with a distance of 20-30km each, of which participants need to take part in at least 6 to be considered for the series awards.

KZN Cricket Selection

Ryan McKean, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, has been selected to represent the KwaZulu-Natal Inland Under 13B Regional Team. Laddsworth is very proud of Ryan’s achievements and wish him all the best for the upcoming tournaments in December.

Laddsworth Squash Stars

Laddsworth pupils participated in the first KZN Junior Squash Tournament of the Season, which was held at Clifton Nottingham Road on Sunday 27 October 2019.
Aiden McNeil (Grade 4) came first in the Under 11 Boys section.
Lily Strydom (Grade 3) came second in the Girls Under 11 section.
Lara Strydom (Grade 5) came 15th in the Girls Under 13 section.

 

Laddsworth Gymnast to compete in Dubai

Crystal Viljoen, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, won Gold for Level 10 Under 15 Rhythmic Gymnastics at the SA Gym Games in September 2019. Crystal will be competing at the Dubai International Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship (DuGym Cup), which will take place in Dubai from 5 to 7 December 2019. Laddsworth is very proud of Crystal’s achievements. We wish her all the best for this prestigious event, where she will be competing against other world-class rhythmic gymnasts.

Laddsworth Primary School collected toys, stationery, balls, skipping ropes and toiletries for the Siyabonga Care Centres during October. Mrs Jackie Ponsford, a representative from Siyabonga, as well as German volunteers, Marieke Stoll and Sophie Jürgens, collected the items from Laddsworth on Wednesday, 30 October 2019. They were overwhelmed by the generous amount of items collected. Siyabonga will distribute these items to those in need at their Care Centres.

 

KZN Athletics Sub-Youth Championship

Laddsworth Athletics Captains Jamie Kloppers and Jonathan Werth took part in the KwaZulu-Natal Athletics Sub-Youth Championship at Kings Park Athletics Stadium in Durban on 12 October 2019. This is the KZN Athletics main event for the Sub-Youth Championships (7 to 15 year age groups). The results from this event will be used to select a Provincial team that will participate in the Inter-Provincial competition in November. This year, more than 650 athletes participated in the event.
Jamie Kloppers (Grade 7) won Gold in the 80m hurdles and came 4th in the 200m hurdles.
Jonathan Werth (Grade 7) came 5th in the 1500m and 10th in the 800m.

Laddsworth Ballerina

Camryn Heafield, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School has qualified to perform in the prestigious Ballet Gala Performance 2019, presented by the Cecchetti Society of KwaZulu-Natal. This annual production, will take place at the Playhouse Theatre in Durban on 9 November 2019. It is a showcase celebrating excellence in dance as all the participants have qualified by achieving a minimum of 70 percent for their 2019 Ballet Examination. Camryn, a member of Julia Powell School of Ballet in Hilton, received a distinction award for her Grade 4 ballet exam. We wish Camryn all the best for the performance.
