Learner Support
The Learner Support Department at Laddsworth assists learners who experience barriers to learning, following the Department of Education’s SIAS Policy.
Junior Primary learners (Grades 1–3) attend individual 30-minute sessions during school hours in a time slot that would not impose on their academic learning. Senior Primary (Grades 4–7) learners attend group sessions (4–6 learners) for 30 minutes after school hours. Sessions are available for English, mathematics, or both. The Learner Support staff work closely with the teaching staff to ensure academic problem areas are addressed. Through attending these sessions, pupils gain the relevant skills to cope better in the classroom situation and develop a healthy self-esteem.
Parents will be charged a fee for Learner Support sessions, as stipulated by the FINCOM. The Bursar will add the Learner Support charges to the parent’s school fee account at the end of each month.
All new learners in the Learner Support Programme will have an initial assessment to identify areas demanding attention. Progress reports will be sent to parents at the start of each term, and a final assessment and report will be provided at end of the year. Sessions will be discontinued when the desirable level of improvement has been reached.
