Laddsworth Gymnast to compete in Dubai

Crystal Viljoen, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, won Gold for Level 10 Under 15 Rhythmic Gymnastics at the SA Gym Games in September 2019. Crystal will be competing at the Dubai International Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship (DuGym Cup), which will take place in Dubai from 5 to 7 December 2019. Laddsworth is very proud of Crystal’s achievements. We wish her all the best for this prestigious event, where she will be competing against other world-class rhythmic gymnasts.

Laddsworth Primary School collected toys, stationery, balls, skipping ropes and toiletries for the Siyabonga Care Centres during October. Mrs Jackie Ponsford, a representative from Siyabonga, as well as German volunteers, Marieke Stoll and Sophie Jürgens, collected the items from Laddsworth on Wednesday, 30 October 2019. They were overwhelmed by the generous amount of items collected. Siyabonga will distribute these items to those in need at their Care Centres.

 

KZN Athletics Sub-Youth Championship

Laddsworth Athletics Captains Jamie Kloppers and Jonathan Werth took part in the KwaZulu-Natal Athletics Sub-Youth Championship at Kings Park Athletics Stadium in Durban on 12 October 2019. This is the KZN Athletics main event for the Sub-Youth Championships (7 to 15 year age groups). The results from this event will be used to select a Provincial team that will participate in the Inter-Provincial competition in November. This year, more than 650 athletes participated in the event.
Jamie Kloppers (Grade 7) won Gold in the 80m hurdles and came 4th in the 200m hurdles.
Jonathan Werth (Grade 7) came 5th in the 1500m and 10th in the 800m.

Laddsworth Ballerina

Camryn Heafield, a Grade 7 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School has qualified to perform in the prestigious Ballet Gala Performance 2019, presented by the Cecchetti Society of KwaZulu-Natal. This annual production, will take place at the Playhouse Theatre in Durban on 9 November 2019. It is a showcase celebrating excellence in dance as all the participants have qualified by achieving a minimum of 70 percent for their 2019 Ballet Examination. Camryn, a member of Julia Powell School of Ballet in Hilton, received a distinction award for her Grade 4 ballet exam. We wish Camryn all the best for the performance.

 

Laddsworth pupil crowned SA Rhythmic Gymnastics Champ!

Laddsworth Grade 6 pupil, Crystal Viljoen competed at the South African National Gym Games 2019 (SAGF) held in Durban, from 25 to 29 September 2019. She competed in the elective ball, compulsory clubs and ribbon categories and was awarded gold for each apparatus.
Crystal was crowned South African Rhythmic Gymnastics Champion for the Level 10, Under 15 division.

Laddsworth Neighbourhood Cleanup

Laddsworth Primary School pupils did a neighbourhood clean-up on Wednesday 18 September 2019. The pupils picked up litter along all the roads surrounding the Laddsworth Estate.

Laddsworth Eco Club takes part in Garden Show Schools Garden Competition

Members of the Laddsworth Eco Club took part in the Young Designers Competition held at The Witness Garden Show, Royal Show Grounds in Pietermaritzburg on 4 September 2019. The 5 members of the Eco Club worked very hard and enjoyed the challenge of creating a ‘Garden for little creatures’.

Rising Stars Schools Tournament

Laddsworth Grade 6 pupils took part in the BNP Paribas RCS Rising Stars Tennis Tournament in Westridge, Durban on Saturday 7 September 2019. Under 12 boys from 9 schools across KwaZulu-Natal took part and Laddsworth came 5th overall.

Omar does a clean sweep of the Spur MTB League

Laddsworth Grade 7 pupil, Omar Wilson has been crowned the overall winner in the Spur KwaZulu-Natal MTB Schools League, for the Sub-Junior Boys Under 13 Section. Omar came first in all 4 races which were held at Kearsney College on 28 July 2019, Maritzburg College on 11 August 2019, Waterfall College on 25 August 2019 and Thomas More College on 8 September 2019. Well done Omar on a perfect MTB season.
